You could also try placing three boxes beneath you to reach it. Turn around and look for the very front of the roof. From here, drop the boxes directly beneath you so that they boost you up and you can jump onto the roof. Pick up at least two of them, and then climb up the shelf. You can find a couple of boxes in the backyard, near the back right-hand corner of the house.
